Summer Dance Intensive 2024
AYDT will be offering a two week pre-professional summer intensive from July 22-August 2 for dancers ages 11-18 . Days will be spent perfecting skills in the familiar dance forms of Ballet, Contemporary, Jazz and Hip Hop, as well as expanding horizons with Modern Dance, Choreography, Dance History, Anatomy & Injury Prevention, Pilates, Yoga and a super fun elective dance class.

Rio Tasia Guillaume
Ballet & Repertoire
Rio Tasia Guillaume grew up in Chicago, receiving her early dance training on scholarship from Larry Long and faculty at the Ruth Page Foundation before receiving her secondary education from Point Park University in Pittsburgh, PA. In New York City, Ms. Guillaume performed in venues such as the New York City Center and Alvin Ailey Citigroup Theater. She also held Soloist and Company Manager positions for Kazuko Hirabayashi Dance Theatre and choreographed for Christian Cultural Center Dance Ministry, premiering work on ABC Television Network.
Ms. Rio spent a decade teaching at the American Youth Dance Theater. She coached students into earning acceptance from the School of American Ballet and LaGuardia High School for the Performing Arts, among others. At AYDT, Rio also achieved ABT® Certified, Affiliate, and Fellow Teacher Statuses having successfully presented her classes for annual ABT® Affiliate Examinations. Since then, Ms. Guillaume has returned to Chicago to direct her own local training program, Ballet with Ms. Rio. “My greatest joy in the dance world is to discover valuable lessons gained through dance training, connecting them to normal everyday life, and impart that wisdom to the next generation of dancers. I am thrilled to return to my NYC home at AYDT this summer!”
Eriko Sugimura
Contemporary
Eriko Sugimura was born in Japan and moved to Hong Kong at the age of 4. She began her dance training at a local studio under the direction of Akiko Takahashi (RCBA) and learned Contemporary/Modern styles by Tomoko Imanaka. She trained in Japan, Hong Kong, and Russia (Vaganova Ballet Academy), and officially entered the State Ballet School of Berlin in Germany at the age of 15. At the age of 19, she moved to New York City with a full scholarship to train at the Peridance Capezio Center. Eriko joined Peridance Contemporary Dance Company in 2016 under the direction of Igal Perry. She has worked and performed works by Igal Perry, Jae Man Joo, Vivake Khamsingsavath, Jana Hicks, Marijke Eliasberg, and Ballet Inc; she also appeared in a music video for Grammy Award Winner, Nile Rodgers. In 2017, Eriko joined Complexions Contemporary Ballet under the direction of Dwight Rhoden and Desmond Richardson. As a lead dancer of Complexions Contemporary Ballet from 2017-2022, Eriko performed on some of the world’s most famous stages. Eriko has been performing all over the world (Germany, New Zealand, Italy, Ukraine, Jamaica, and more) as a soloist and was covered by Harvard Business Review in May-June 2020 and featured in Dance Magazine.
Maiya Redding
Dance Composition (Choreography)
Maiya was raised in Chicago, Illinois, and her dance training began at The Chicago Multicultural Dance Center. She attended and graduated high school from the Chicago Academy for the Arts where she majored in Dance. Her studies took her to Purchase, NY where she graduated Cum Laude from SUNY Purchase College in the Dance Conservatory program where she received a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in 2016. While at Purchase she had the pleasure of training abroad for a semester at Korean National University of the Arts, in Seoul South Korea.
Within the last couple of months Maiya set my work “Breaking through the Generational Curse” on Alessandra Corona Performing Works, and will be working with the company again in February to extend the work. She also set another work “Chicago Luvin” on Dance Lab NY, and, in addition, created and choreographed her own film titled “The Evolution of Womb(man)hood” in August. For the past three years Maiya has been working as a dance instructor teaching various classes including, ballet, hip hop, modern, and jazz.
As a choreographer and instructor, Maiya’s intention is to show the audience the beauty of artistry. She is a strong believer in individuality and is attracted to dancers that dare to be different. Her goal as a choreographer and dance instructor is to empower her students and make them feel powerful and strong.
Bianca Delli Priscoli
Ballet
She is a Dancer, Choreographer and Artistic Director. Bianca moved to New York 9 years ago. Two years later she was recognized as an artist of extraordinary ability by the United States of America. She graduated in 2012 with Loredana Mutalipassi and then perfected her knowledge at the National Academy of Rome, the only recognized dance university in Italy. In New York, Bianca successfully completed the Independent Study Program at the Ailey School. She received scholarships from Dance Theatre of Harlem in New York, Dance Haus Susanna Belerami in Milan and M.A.C. in Rome. She has danced for Artestudio Dance Company, Forza Malizia dance Company, Bianca Falco/Labilab Company, Saya Spring Dance Theatre and Incanto Production. She also performed works by Adriana Borriello, Robert Garland, Dionne Figgins, Darryl Quinton, Jacqulyn Buglisi and Judinne Somerville, performing at multiple venues across New York City and Europe. Her repertoire includes Giselle, Apollon Musagète, Don Quixote, Nutcracker, Les Sylphides, Swan Lake, Anna Karenina, Sleeping Beauty, Dracula. Bianca is a Senior Artist at the Ajkun Ballet Theatre, a Special Guest and Teacher for Fini Dance New York and a Special Guest and Co- Artistic Director for Long Island Ballet Theatre. She currently teaches Ballet at the Martha Graham School of Contemporary Dance, for Professional division and Teens, and Huntington Ballet Academy. Bianca recently joined the Ailey school faculty for the Junior Division and the Brooklyn Ballet faculty.
Bianca has successfully completed the ABT® Teacher Training Curriculum from Pre-Primary through Level 7 and Partnering of the ABT® National Training Curriculum.
Rachel Feinerman
Pilates & Restorative Kinesiology
Rachel has been teaching dance in New York for more than 20 years at studios such as Gibney, Peridance, Mark Morris, Dance New Amsterdam, Dance Space, and Barnard College. After graduating Barnard College with a B.A. in Dance and Political Science, she has performed for Laurie De Vito & Dancers since 1999, and also for Daria Fain, Ricardo Gomez Dance Theatre, Aynsley Vandenbroucke, Wilson Mendieta, Sita Mani and many others. She was cast in a variety of film, photo and art projects including Julie Taymor’s Across the Universe and co-founded a performance workshop company for adult dance students.
Certified in teaching the Simonson technique, an injury-preventative and scaffolded dance teaching methodology, Rachel also studied qi-gong and Pilates for many years before her love for anatomy and creative somatic work finally drew her to the Kane School in 2021 where she is honored to be part of the Kinected residency program. She currently teaches mat and reformer classes, supervises students in the training program, and sees individual clients at Kinected.
Bailey Anglin
Pilates & Restorative Kinesiology
Bailey Anglin discovered Pilates early in her career as a professional dancer. She pursued her Pilates training and education through the Kane School and has been teaching at Westside Dance PT since 2018. Pilates has given Bailey the opportunity to focus on her passion for functional biomechanics of the human body. Her class will help participants with overall alignment while increasing joint stability, strength, tone, and elongation of muscles. Participants will identify and find ways to release unnecessary tension through the integration of breath, while giving the body the tools to move through space efficiently. Through her invigorating classes, Bailey hopes to help her students release daily stress, heighten senses, and embrace healthy bodies in motion.
Matt McCulloch
Pilates & Restorative Kinesiology
Matt McCulloch is an educator of fitness and movement professionals, co-founder of Kinected and co-director of the Kane School as well as co-director of the FAMI and FAMI – Level Two workshops. A classically trained dancer, he began studying Pilates over 20 years ago to rehabilitate a knee injury following 4 separate knee surgeries. He is trained in both original and contemporary approaches and over the past 15 years, he has educated hundreds of fitness professionals. Matt’s passion for movement and pilates has been the resource for creating many workshops and teaching tools for movement professionals. These workshops emphasize proper biomechanics and creative progressions and modifications based on the original Pilates repertoire. The wide range of workshops he has created are designed to focus on various injuries, joint replacements, additional orthopedic injuries and special populations such as the young athlete with developmental issues as well as neurological issues.
Matt’s passion for education extends beyond the fitness professional to the clinical world investing in his mission to bridge the gap of movement and medicine. He lectures to clinical professionals, frequently leading workshops fusing movement and clinical information on the rehabilitative benefits of Pilates and alternative therapeutic movement to DPT students at Hunter College and physiatry residents at The Mount Sinai Medical Center, and frequently presents at Pilates on Tour. Additionally, Matt incorporates pilates as well as many different modalities such as GYROKINESIS® & GYROTONIC® , CORE ALIGN and BODHI suspension straps and yoga. He is committed to utilizing several different modalities in his sessions with clients not only to extend their body education beyond Pilates, but because he also believes this approach creates more balance in their body and raises their BODY IQ.
Evelyn Tejeda
Hip Hop
Evelyn Tejeda, originally from the Dominican Republic and based in the USA, is a multifaceted professional excelling in various realms. She is an esteemed interpreter, choreographer, and dance instructor, with a rich portfolio of achievements. Notably, she reached the semifinals of Dominicans Got Talent and served as an elite judge at Hip-Hop International. As a founding member of the National Contemporary Dance Company of the Dominican Republic, under the direction of renowned choreographer Marianela Boan, she toured festivals worldwide. Tejeda holds a Master of Performing Arts from Rey Juan Carlos University, Madrid, Spain. Her choreography “Impossible Explain” won the Quisqueya Dance Grand Prize and Solo Coreografico USA 2021, also showcased at prestigious events like the Bates Dance Festival, Union PDX Oregon, XVII Encuentro de Danza, Ecuador. She collaborated with French choreographer David Milome touring around France, Luxembourg, Martinique and Invited by the choreographer Maura Morales to take part in a choreography process in Germany, participating in international premieres and tours. Tejeda also graced TV shows as a judge and assistant choreographer and performed alongside notable artists in music videos and awards ceremonies. Judge at TV Shows: Mas Roberto, Aqui se Habla Español, assistant choreographer at “Who Dances Best” Rep. Dom. Vs Puerto Rico. Danced at Heat Awards of Latin Music with artists like: Farruko, Anuel AA, Thomaz, Greeicy, Eddy Herrera. Video clips: Daddy Yankee, La Materialista, Enrique Iglesias and Sean Paul. Don Omar at the Soberano Award.
Becky Brown
Limon Technique
Becky Brown is from England. She completed her dance training at the Laban Centre, London, went on to be a member of Transitions Dance Company, and then continued her training in Canada. As a dancer Becky has performed and toured in England, and has extensive teaching experience at University level, lecturing on Dance Degree and Performing Arts Degree courses in the UK. In NYC, Becky continued training in the Limón technique on the Professional Studies Program and the Limón Teachers Program, and was the Program Manager for the Limón Institute. Faculty positions include Pre-Professional and Professional training programs at The Ailey School, Ballet Hispanico, Ballet Tech, Peridance Capezio Center, and the Limón School. In addition to teaching the Limón Technique, she leads classes and performance workshops at The Ailey Extension, teaches outdoor summer classes in NYC parks, and creates and produces student and professional contemporary choreography.
John Crim
Jazz
John Crim is a Brooklyn based dancer and choreographer that loves sharing his gifts with bright minds. After graduating from institutions such as Interlochen Arts Academy and the Alonzo King Lines training program and working with companies such as Garth Fagan Dance and Waterstreet Dance, John continues to explore and expand on the boundaries of movement, creativity and expression.

Requirements
Participants not enrolled in American Youth Dance Theater’s school year program are required to send a video audition submission to [email protected] before enrolling.
Video Audition, no more than 6 minutes in length, must include:
- Ballet Barre: pliés, tendus from 5th position, rond de jambes, adagio and grand battements
- Ballet Center: tendus from 5th position, adagio and petit allegro
- Jazz or Contemporary: a combination or solo demonstrating turns, jumps and floor work.
Students enrolled in American Youth Dance Theater’s Graded Level Ballet 5 and up, and Open Level Ballet 3 and up, are eligible to register without video submission.
